COFFEE MORNING

Here are some pictures (and on the Welcome page) showing our ukulele group, The Sunnysiders, performing at our Coffee Morning in March 2016 at Stratford's beautiful Town Hall. Well worth a visit.

Pictures on Sunny Side Up's Activity Groups and Volunteer pages show the ukulele group and some of its individual members in all their colourful glory, by the way!

This year's Coffee Morning was held on Tuesday 27th March 2018 again at Stratford Town Hall. Many visitors turned up to join in the fun and sample our delicious cakes - and sang along with The Sunnysiders. If you couldn't make it, there'll be another one next year!

Preparations!

Standing room only!

4th ANNUAL TOWN HALL

TEA PARTY

Sunny Side Up's third annual tea party on 8th October 2017 was a great success. Beautiful table settings, delicious food, excellent entertainment and the gaiety and style of another era. See the testimonials below from guests and our picture slide show of our first tea party.

Next annual tea party will be held on Sunday 7th October 2018 as part of the Engage 50+ Festival. Save the date!

      For fans of The Sunnysiders

  • On Tuesday 28th February 2017 we entertained patients at the Nicol Unit at Stratford Hospital.  Lots of cheerful 'sing-along' music in our repertoire so all the patients were able to join in and, well, sing along!

  • On Thursday 16th March, we performed at Sunny Side Up's Coffee Morning at Stratford Town Hall. There was a spirited singalong as always and our Terribly Tempting Tombola!

  • On Saturday 3rd June we took part in the first Stratford Folk Festival held at the Arts House where we were both playing (great fun!) and running a ukulele workshop. Three participants in the workshop who'd learnt to play Jambalaya in one-hour flat joined us on stage in the Foyer and played along with us. You could too! Contact us for details.

  • On Friday 16th June, The Sunnysiders played at Scholars Mews retirement and care home Open Day. Since it will be partly in the open we're praying for a dry day!

  • On Sunday 8th October we were at the Sunny Side Up third annual Afternoon Tea Party at Stratford Town Hall. See details on left.

  • On Thursday 30th November The Sunnysiders entertained guests at The Afternoon Townswomens' Guild surprise party at Stratford Town Hall.  Christmas music and carols were 'on the menu' of course - and a nod towards the season in our head gear!

    Details of the remainder of

The Sunnysiders

2018 programme will be posted soon.

The group has expanded in size since above picture was taken but there's always room for more! Why not join us? No need to read music. Warm and welcoming group. More details on Activity Groups page or contact us via email or phone.

Afternoon Tea Party, Town Hall, 2.10.2016

It was a brilliant afternoon. Well done!! We did enjoy it and I know those on our table did likewise. We made several new contacts as well as renewing old ones so it was very rewarding from that point of view and what a marvellous venue, table set up, food and programme.  Excellent!  I was very impressed with the pianist – wish I could play like that!

The Sunnysiders Ukulele Group performance at 'Holiday at Home', 25th August 2016

...the spot-on timing to our brief, the song sheets you provided for the two monitors and overall the very professional looking and most accomplished performance from the group.

It was a most memorable afternoon and a card from Droitwich yesterday (said that) they too really enjoyed the programme you presented.

Coffee Morning, Town Hall, 10.03.2016:

Dad LOVED the coffee morning and the singing…. He was happy all day afterwards which is not usual at the moment. I thought you did a fantastic job of organising it and inspiring people to participate and help. I had imagined that it would be a fairly small affair as you are a new organisation, but it was a wild success. Well Done You!

……

I love this organisation you have started - and, I think the name is great. It does definitely increase Dad's sunny side moments.

My friend and I so enjoyed the coffee morning/entertainment to-day.

Many congratulations!  You are doing a wonderful job for the senior members of the community.  The number of people there, and the buzz of happy chatter, together with the singing of the good old songs made it a huge success.  The refreshments provided were just the icing on the delicious cakes.

Grand Tea Party, Town Hall, 4.10.2015

We did enjoy the afternoon and thought the tables were laid out beautifully with the china. The sandwiches and cakes were delicious and look forward to the next one.

M.T., Wellesbourne

Just to say a big thank you for giving me an invitation to "Sunny Side Up" yesterday. It really was a sunny bright day. After I had been ticked off the list, I went in the room & joined a table of lovely ladies. The tables were laid out with beautiful china & flowers.

We had a good table & a lovely lady Catherine our hostess. A great tea was served & very nice Palm Court music played and a singer also entertained us.

A very enjoyable afternoon & met some great people.

Thank you very much.

You made so many people so very happy......it was a glorious afternoon. Mum was over the moon.

Sunday is such a lonely day for me usually......this has been delightful.

All were excited about a re-run next year......contacts were exchanged and new friends made.

I had such a lovely time......it was a very special occasion. What a lot of joy you've given to a lot of people.

Some general comments at the tea party

Wow, what an afternoon that was. I sort of thought it would be good, but I was blown away. The room was beautiful. The tables were great and the food was fab. Not even to mention the entertainment! Hats off to you for arranging such a great happening! We both thoroughly enjoyed it. My Dad is 85 and thought he had seen it all, but had never been to anything like that. He has a bit of a fear of elderly entertainments. His belief is it will be bingo or a poor quality singalong. And he's right, they are often subjected to well meant but dire ordeals. Yours was far from that, it was a genuine treat.

..why should we expect the elderly to enjoy poor quality entertainment?   I'm so glad your event was so high quality. They often deserve better than they get. I did hear some people saying how fab it was as they left. Many congratulations on a job well done!
