According to AgeUK:

 

  • 1 million older people haven't spoken to a friend, neighbour or relative in over a month;

  • 500,000 older people will spend Christmas on their own;

  • 1 in 4 older people feel that they have no one to turn to.

  • Over 1 million older people say they are always or often lonely;

  • 41% of people aged 65+ feel out of touch with the pace of modern life;

  • Nearly half of older people over 65 say that television or pets are their main form of company.
